Аннотация на русском языке: Статья посвящена актуальной теме, так как лишение свободы как вид наказания в уголовном праве занимает особое место. В статье приведены позиции разных авторов касаемо понятия лишения свободы как вида наказания, приведены признаки, присущие данному виду наказания. Охарактеризованы проблемы исполнения наказания в России на современном этапе.

The summary in English: The article is devoted to the actual topic, as deprivation of liberty as a type of punishment takes a special place in criminal law. Positions of different authors concerning the concept of deprivation of liberty as a type of punishment are given in the article; the features inherent to this type of punishment are given. The problems of punishment execution in Russia at the present stage are described.
